Alerts Are Live

Good news! As of October 2019, participants in the treatment group who have received the latest firmware updates (version 20580 or 40175) should expect the full complement of alerts to be active in their vehicle for the remainder of the study. False alerts are possible due to GPS interference and recalibration. If you believe you are receiving false alerts on a consistent basis, please email Rob Boelke at rob@tampacvpilot.com with a description of your experience.

Check for Updates

The CV Pilot continues to broadcast over-the-air software updates. Remember, some vehicles (treatment group) will receive alerts during the Pilot and some vehicles (control group) will not. If your vehicle has not yet received the most recent update (Version 20564, 20580, or 40175) or you are experiencing technical difficulties with the rearview mirror, please contact Rob Boelke at rob@tampacvpilot.com immediately to schedule an inspection appointment.

STEM Students Visit THEA

On November 8, members of the Tampa Bay Bridge to Baccalaureate program visited the Tampa Hillsborough Expressway Authority (THEA) for a presentation and demonstration of the CV Pilot. In attendance were minority students seeking science, technology, engineering or mathematics (STEM) degrees from an alliance of three schools: State College of Florida, Manatee-Sarasota; St. Petersburg College; and Hillsborough Community College. The partnership between the schools is grant funded by the National Science Foundation as part of the Louis Stokes Alliance for Minority Participation. For more information on upcoming and ongoing THEA projects, visit https://www.tampa-xway.com/initiatives/.

CV Pilot Recognized by ITS World Congress

On October 23, at the 26th Annual Intelligent Transportation Systems World Congress, the THEA CV Pilot was inducted into the World Congress’ 2019 Hall of Fame for Local Government in the Americas Region. The award was accepted by THEA’s Director of Planning and Innovation, Bob Frey (pictured left). This is the first such induction of an agency other than a Department of Transportation.

Maintenance Appointments

If you believe your equipment needs an inspection, are interested in purchasing a new vehicle or require removal of the CV equipment from your vehicle, please schedule an appointment as soon as possible. Appointments are available on select Thursdays and Fridays between 9:00 a.m. and 4:00 p.m. at the HCC Ybor Training Center (subject to change). Be sure to plan ahead, as availability is limited.

Remember, participants may continue with the Pilot using a different vehicle, pending approval. Just let us know! We’ll be glad to help.
