Software Updates Ongoing

Reminder: Over-the-air software updates are continuing. When software updates are available, your equipment will download it wirelessly as you drive by. When the download is complete, your unit will update automatically. This update may differ from previous over-the-air updates. Once downloaded, your unit may reset several times while the vehicle is on, potentially as you are driving. If the update process has not concluded by the end of your commute, don’t worry! Your unit will continue the update process the next time you start your vehicle. You may notice the version number that appears on your mirror at startup has changed (ver. 20557) once the update is complete. Keep in mind, it may take your vehicle several passes to receive the necessary information to update. This update will prepare treatment group units to receive active alerts within the next two months. Drivers with units in the control group will not receive alerts until a later date, if at all. With active alerts around the corner, head over to the Current Participants page for a refresher course and view the CV Pilot Training Video, or download additional copies of your training materials.

Autonomous Testing Hits the
Selmon Expressway

Since 2014, THEA has offered its access-controlled reversible express lanes, arterial feeder roads, and office facilities to businesses to test and develop technologies that advance autonomous vehicles. The Lee Roy Selmon Expressway is one of the first toll roads designated by the U.S. Department of Transportation as an autonomous and connected vehicle test bed, providing researchers a place to test the safety, mobility, environmental and efficiency advantages, services, standards and components of autonomous vehicles. On May 11, San Francisco based Starsky Robotics used a closed portion of the Selmon Expressway to test features related to their autonomous and remote-controlled freight truck projects.

Maintenance Schedule

If you are interested in purchasing a new vehicle, require an equipment removal from your current vehicle due to a commute change/move, or believe your equipment needs an inspection, please schedule a maintenance or uninstall appointment. These appointments are available every Friday, between 8:00 a.m. and 4:00 p.m., at the HCC Ybor Training Center (subject to facility availability). Be sure to plan ahead, as availability for these appointments is limited. Participants may continue with the Pilot using their newly purchased vehicle, pending an inspection at a subsequent re-installation appointment. As always, visit the Current Participants page for resources and information regarding your participation.
